The Carolina RailHawks participated in the Healthy Choice Marathon that takes place at J.Y. Joyner Elementary to promote healthy lifestyle choices. The main objective of the event was to instill good eating habits, regular exercise, and reading every day.
RailHawks staff spoke to each group participating in the marathon about the importance of having a balance in life. The kids were able to hear from professional players the value of education, regular exercise, and how trying hard at each one will help them succeed in life. Caleb Norkus, Community Outreach Manager for the RailHawks, discussed his own experiences growing up and his struggles with a learning disability and his commitment to earning his degree before turning professional. He showed the young kids that through hard work and determination they can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Carolina RailHawks Community Outreach initiatives are made possible through the support of the Summit Hospitality Group, a premier hotel and restaurant management company and one of North Carolina's largest operators of hotels.
