MIAMI, Fla. April 16, 2012 ̶ Attendance for the North American Soccer League (NASL) increased by over 50% for the first two weeks of the 2012 season when compared to the first two weeks of the 2011 season. A total of 42,303 fans (5,287 average) have attended the first eight games of the 2012 NASL Regular Season. In 2011, 27,947 fans (3,493 average) turned out for the first eight matches of the 2011 NASL Regular Season. Sunday’s home debut of the expansion San Antonio Scorpions highlighted the second week of the 2012 season and was watched by a standing-room-only crowd of 13,151 at Heroes Stadium.
The 2012 NASL Regular Season continues this Wednesday, April 18 as the Tampa Bay Rowdies take on the Carolina RailHawks at Al Lang Stadium in St Petersburg, Fla. and the first place Puerto Rico Islanders host FC Edmonton at Bayamón Soccer Complex.
