Strikers Host Islanders on Wednesday

Two of the league's top teams clash at Lockhart Stadium on Wednesday as the first-place Puerto Rico Islanders take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. Last season these two teams met in the NASL Playoff semifinals with the Strikers prevailing 5-2 on aggregate over two legs.

  • F Andy Herron scored twice in the 2-2 draw vs. San Antonio on April 21st. Herron has won NASL Offensive     Player of the Week twice in the first three weeks of the season.
  • GK Matt Glaeser is second in Goals Against Average (GAA) in the NASL at 0.67.
  • M Walter Restrpo is tied for the league lead in asissts with two.
  • The Strikers will be without D Toni Stahl and F Abe Thompson who are suspended for this match.


Puerto Rico

  • Islanders GK Richard Martin has won consecutive NASL Defensive Player of Week awards.
  • Jonathan Faña had his first two assists of 2012 in the April 21st victory over FC Edmonton
  • Faña the Islanders leading goal scorer in 2011, had only one assist in the entire 2011 season.
  • Nicholas Addlery has scored in three of the Islanders first four games.
