RailHawks Acquire Zimbabwe International Midfielder Joseph Kabwe PDF Print E-mail

Kabwe will make his debut on Saturday, March 14, against the New England Revolution

Cary, NC (Tuesday, March 03, 2009) – The Carolina RailHawks announced today they have signed Zimbabwe International and former Charlotte Eagles midfielder Joseph Kabwe pending League and USSF approval. Kabwe will make his RailHawk debut at the “Community Shield” match on Saturday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. against Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution. Tickets ($10, $15 and $20) for the “Community Shield” match are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425) or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.

“Joseph Kabwe is probably one of the most creative players I have seen since I came to America,” said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. “He’s really good on the ball, creates chances for his teammates and sometimes scores himself. We are really happy to have him.”

Kabwe spent the last three years in the USL Second Division with the Charlotte Eagles where he established himself as a mainstay in the Eagles’ midfield. During his tenure in Charlotte, Kabwe tallied seven goals and recorded eleven assists for a total of 25 points. Kabwe was also named to the USL-2 Team of the Week five times in the three years at Charlotte which made the move to a USL-1 team a natural transition.

“Having played in the Second Division, I thought it would be a great opportunity to play in a USL-1 side,” said Railhawks midfielder Jospeh Kabwe. “I look forward to some great competition playing for the RailHawks.”

The Carolina RailHawks are continuing to build an impressive team for the 2009 season. Over the next few weeks the RailHawks will announce a few more great signings that will complete the 2009 roster.

The Carolina RailHawks’ 2009 season ticket drive is in full swing with the “All-Inclusive” package, that includes the Major League Soccer exhibition against the New England Revolution on March 14, and the CD Olimpia exhibition on March 27, as well as other packages tailored to every soccer fan’s needs.
