Balchan Joins RailHawks On Loan
Rich Balchan joined RailHawks on loan from Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer for the upcoming match at San Antonio. The defender joined the RailHawks training this week in preparation for the weekend and will return to Real Salt Lake following the match. The loan became one of necessesity when Conor Tobin and Kupono Low received two yellow cards and Uriah Bentick went down with an injury in a 1-0 victory over the New York Cosmos. Balchan will dress for the RailHawks in San Antonio.
Balchan played four years for the Indiana Hoosiers men’s soccer team, earning First-Team All-Big Ten honors and appearing in 78 out of a possible 80 matches. After a successful collegiate carrer, Balchan was drafted 12th overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew. The former U.S. U-20 National Team player spent two years with the Crew before joining Real Salt Lake prior to the 2013 MLS Season.
